"Monster in wolf's clothing"

Films: Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001)

Alias: None

Type: Natural

Location: Forest/Civilized Area/Haunted home

Height/Weight: Twice that of an average lion.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: One of the most famous werewolf stories actually dates back several centuries ago. Back then, there was only the fabled Beast of Gevaudan, often seen as a monstrous wolf that terrorized the townsfolk. But there are many other interpretations of where this legend got started. And in this film's case, it all starts with a conspiracy...

History: In the rural town of Gevaudan, France, something is going around killing the people who stray too close to the woods. Many think that it's a large wolf, but it's much more than that. This tortured monster is actually an armored lion trained into submission by the Brotherhood of the Wolf, a secret organization of horrible aristocrats intent on overthrowing King Louis XV and taking his place, using the animal they've abused into savagery to instill the fear of God into people. Only a few know of them, and only a few can stop them.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After the entire Brotherhood has been killed and/or sent to justice, our heroes find the beast in a sorry state, and have it mercy killed before it can do any more harm.

Powers/Abilities: None.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 4-The CGI isn't always the greatest, but try saying that when a 1-ton death metal lion with spikes jutting out everywhere is coming at you. While we pity this beast for being in a constant state of agony due to all the inward-facing spikes, that doesn't necessarily mean we want to get mauled by it, regardless of whatever cruel master it has at the moment.

Trivia: -The actual Beast of Gevaudan's identity is a huge subject of debate among historians. While it was described at the time as a huge wolf, many have argued that it was an armored mastiff hound, a hyena, a lion, and so on.

-The animatronics for the beast during close-ups were done by Jim Henson's Creature Shop.

"Can anyone even breath in these things?"

Over the hills and far away...

She accidentally showed it the live-action Lion King remake.

Uh...red flag?
Well, at least they were having fun making this.
